Creatine facts

What is it?
The compound occurs naturally in the body. Creatine can be found in the skeletal muscle.

Are there any dangers?

It is not advised to take large doses of Creatine over a long period of time. It is not known how the body is affected by the synthesis of such doses and this could have a detrimental effect on the body. So don’t overuse it.

What Does It do?

Increases muscle volume.

Increases lean weight.

Increases strength in high intensity sports.

Attracts cellular fluid into the muscle, which increases strength size and sometimes muscle definition.

In most cases it increases muscle mass by 20%.

(go to muscle works article)

How does it work?

When taken it passes through the stomach lining into the bloodstream where it is absorbed by the skeletal muscle. It serves as an energy reserve in muscle cells. If you take it you can use your muscles more because there are greater energy reserves to use. It also bloats the muscle with Creatine rich fluid. This allows more weight to be lifted.

What happens when you stop using it?

Strength and size increases, which occur when using Creatine, will diminish after you stop taking it. However, a small daily dose will keep the body increase stable.

Remember

Make sure you drink plenty of water when using Creatine. Creatine pulls water from other parts of the body when it is making the muscle larger. This will also help the kidneys deal with the nutrients that the body is receiving. Try to stay away from Caffeine too as it will do the opposite of the Creatine and pull the water away from the muscle.
